We are thrilled to share some exciting news from Bespoke Home Cinemas! Our co-founder Melanie Malcolm was recently honoured at the prestigious CEDIA EMEA Awards for her outstanding contributions to the industry. This recognition comes after six years of dedicated service on the global board of CEDIA, where Melanie played a pivotal role in shaping the future of smart home technology.
Melanie, alongside her fellow board member Jamie Briesemeister, was surprised with this accolade, marking the culmination of years of hard work and volunteer service. Reflecting on her time with CEDIA, Melanie shared, “Serving on the global board has been an incredible experience, working on initiatives I’m proud to be associated with, all while volunteering my time.”
Throughout her tenure, Melanie made significant contributions to the smart home and home cinema industries. From her early work on Global Alignment while serving on the UK board to becoming a Global Director, her leadership has been impactful and far-reaching. She also chaired the UK’s first Smart Home Apprenticeship Committee and contributed to shaping CEDIA’s global strategy, all while balancing the responsibilities of running multiple businesses.
Among her many achievements, one standout moment was her recent lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C., advocating for the industry alongside other key leaders. She also held roles on the Governance Committee and served as Secretary to the Executive Committee—positions that further highlight her dedication to elevating the industry worldwide.
As Melanie steps down from the CEDIA global board at the end of this year, she leaves behind a legacy of leadership and innovation. Yet, this is far from a farewell! She will continue to serve on the Governance Committee and, of course, remain at the heart of Bespoke Home Cinemas as she continues to drive the business forward.
In addition to her work with us, Melanie will continue dedicating her time to several key ventures, including Together For Cinema, the Home Cinema Alliance, and her community roles with the Yorkshire Choice Awards and Yorkshire Ladies Links.
